Christopher Sakowicz, 18, and Vincent Keller, 18, both of Stratford, were arrested on Monday, April 22, in connection with the vandalism and fire that occurred on Sunday, March 24, at Silver Sands State Park in Milford, said the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (EnCon) Environmental Conservation Police.
The investigation leading to the arrests was conducted with the assistance of the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney, Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, Milford Police, and Stratford Police.
The teens, reportedly students at Bunnell High School, were arrested Monday, April 8, by the Stratford Police with setting the fire that destroyed the renowned Shakespeare Theater and other recent burglary incidents, Stratford Police said.
Both teens were charged with criminal trespass, two counts of criminal mischief, larceny, and criminal attempt to commit criminal mischief in connection with the Silver Sands fire, EnConn Police said.
An earlier fire that destroyed three buildings under construction at the park on Tuesday, March 19, remains under investigation, and at this time there is no information concerning a connection between the two incidents.
